What is the buying process?
Lots are available for both purchase and design, build and lease.
Purchase
Buy the lot that suits your needs. Call the team at McDonald Real Estate to discuss a viewing time and the process for placing an offer. Titles for Stage 1 are due to be issued late 2023.
Design, Build and Lease
With this option, you as tenant would work with the Developer and his team to design a premises that is fit for purpose which you would then lease. A first right to purchase can also be added to the lease. This would be a good option for a company needing to move into premises as soon as possible.
Why would I do business in South Taranaki?
Lifestyle and employment options are abundant in South Taranaki. There are diverse economic opportunities, great work life balance, access to facilities, centrality to markets and quality schools and Education. Visit the About page or the Resource section for more information.
How did the business park come to life?
In 2019, South Taranaki District Council lead a feasibility study on developing a business park in the district. The results showed considerable demand from new and existing businesses to both establish and grow however there was a lack of industrial/ commercial land available with the right infrastructure. The report identified the mixed use area on Waihi Road the most suitable for development. Consequently, Agtrans business partner CJ Mahony was concerned about access to his existing business and approached the neighbouring farm to acquire land. The former land owner wasn’t interested in selling part of his land and offered all 65 acres which CJ agreed to. This area of the greater business park is known as the South Taranaki Business Park, West End Precinct.
What interest have you had from businesses to date?
Demand has been high and has all come from word of mouth, prior to going to Market in November 2022. We have 3 current tenants which have all gone down the design, build, lease route. 3 further lots have signed purchase agreements.
Will you have caveats/ design guidelines?
Yes, please visit the Design Guidelines page for more information.
What infrastructure do you have to support my business?
Roads and crossings are designed to be large and suitable for heavy industrial use. Fibre, power, water, sewer are being installed in the road and will be accessible at the boundary of each lot. See the Sections page for further information.
Will there be any food or recreational activities in close proximity?
In addition to the many options Hawera already offers, we are developing the green space alongside the stream which will have extensive native planting and a walkway, perfect for breaks throughout the day. We are also encouraging a café to take occupancy on lot 12 to service the Business Park & future residential development.
When can I get more information on the residential development?
When plans/ dates for development in that area are firmer, information will be released and a link will be provided on the STBP Homepage. You can also register your interest with McDonald Real Estate and they will keep you updated with information as it becomes available.
What type of business are you encouraging?
The business park will ideally be suited to trades and services businesses.
